Conclusion of the “Syrian-Emirati” Forum for Medical Readiness in Damascus

The “Syrian-Emirati” Forum for Medical Readiness, which was held under the auspices of the Syrian Ministry of Health, concluded today in the Syrian capital, Damascus, as part of a strategic plan aimed at training 10,000 health workers in Syrian hospitals within five years.
The forum was organized by the “Syrian Preparedness” program and the National Training Program “Tadareb”, and was accredited by the European Center for Disaster Medicine, and lasted 3 days. The program included training lectures, workshops, and tabletop and live exercises that simulate reality.
During the forum, it was announced the establishment of accredited training medical centers in emergency, disaster and crisis medicine at the headquarters of the Syrian Commission for Medical Specialties, Damascus Hospital, and the field hospital.
The organization of the forum and the establishment of accredited specialized medical training centers come within the framework of the agreement signed between the Syrian Ministry of Health and the National Training Center “Tareeb”. The head of the Syrian Commission for Medical Specialties and the representative of the Ministry of Health in “Syrian Readiness,” Dr. Iyad Baath, confirmed that the program focuses on supporting the national health sector by building human capabilities and qualifying specialized medical personnel, noting that the initiative aims to train doctors, nurses, ambulance and emergency teams, civil defense, and medical and administrative leaders.
The Chief Doctor of Syria, Dr. Asaad Sharaf al-Din, explained that the program aims to train and qualify about 10,000 workers on the front lines of the health sector, based on an advanced scientific approach. Dr. Adel Al-Shammari Al-Ajmi, Emirati heart surgeon, CEO of the Zayed Giving Initiative, and CEO of the Emirates “Jaheziya” program, said that the forum will be organized periodically in both Syria and the Emirates, with the aim of exchanging experiences and discussing developments in emergency medicine, intensive care, and surgery.
He explained that during the current session, more than 200 medical, nursing and first aid personnel were trained according to a unified curriculum approved by the Readiness Academy and the European Center for Disaster Medicine.
The Executive Director of the National Training Company, Al-Anoud Al-Ajmi, confirmed that the “Syrian-Emirati” Forum for Medical Readiness comes within the framework of efforts to strengthen regional and international cooperation to develop the health sector, raise the efficiency of medical personnel, ambulance personnel, and civil defense personnel, and improve the level of response to health emergencies.
