American Reed advances to runner-up in golf “Race to Dubai”

American Patrick Ruck advanced to second place in the “Race to Dubai” world rankings for the DB World Golf Tour competitions, issued today, Monday, benefiting from his victory in the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, which concluded yesterday, Sunday, at the Emirates Golf Club.
Reed succeeded in winning and lifting the famous “Dalla” Cup for the first time in his career, in addition to winning his first title in the elite category tournaments of the Rolex Series in the “Race to Dubai”, after a consistent performance over the four rounds, which he finished with a score of 14 strokes under par.
Thanks to this victory, the player nicknamed “Captain America” earned 1,335 points, which made him rise 105 places directly to second place in the “Race to Dubai” classification, with a total of 1,370 points.
Reid said in the press conference after winning the title: “I think the most important thing that distinguished this week was my victory in all tournaments except this tournament.”
He added: “Even though the website shows three wins, one of them was in a major, and two were in the World Golf Championships. So, they are all combined tournaments, and that has always bothered me, not having a win here.”
He added: “After I had the opportunity to win in 2023 when I finished second and missed the opportunity, it was very important for me to perform well here and have this opportunity. Winning here means a lot to me, especially in Dubai, which I love coming to, which makes it even more special.”
For his part, Englishman Andy Sullivan, who finished runner-up in the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, benefited from obtaining 889 points, advancing to third place in the “Race to Dubai” classification, with 998 points.
South African Jayden Schaper maintained his top spot in the Race to Dubai classification after achieving fourth place at Al Majlis Stadium in Dubai, earning 339 points and raising his total score this season to 1,727 points.
This tournament is the second in the “International Series”, which includes 7 tournaments held in 5 different countries on two continents, as it currently continues to hold tournaments in Bahrain, Qatar, Kenya and South Africa.
According to the calendar for the new “Race to Dubai” season, at least 42 tournaments will be held in 25 countries around the world, with the final qualifiers being held in the United Arab Emirates, where the best 70 players will qualify for the Abu Dhabi Championship at Yas Links from November 5 to 8, 2026, and then the best 50 players will qualify for the DB World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Estates Golf Club from November 12 to 15, 2026.
