Registration for the first UAE Badminton Sports Talent Championship has closed

The organizing committee for the first edition of the Badminton Sports Talent Championship announced the official closing of registration, following the large turnout and record participation witnessed in the tournament’s registration phase, which reflects the growing status that the tournament has acquired and its importance within the system of discovering and developing sports talent in the country.
The tournament, which was launched by the Emirates Committee for Nurturing Sports Talents and Supporting National Sports in cooperation with the Emirates Badminton Federation, and with the support of the Ministry of Sports, will be held over three days: January 30, 31 and February 1, 2026, in the covered hall of the Maliha Cultural Sports Club in the Emirate of Sharjah, which includes eight (8) professional courts equipped according to the highest technical and organizational standards.
In turn, the Assistant Undersecretary for the Sports Development and Competitiveness Sector at the Ministry of Sports, and Chairman of the Emirates Committee for Nurturing Sports Talents and Supporting National Sports, Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, confirmed that the tournament represents one of the most prominent stations within the committee’s plans, which aims to discover promising sporting potentials at an early age in various sports, especially badminton, and prepare those talents to move to advanced stages of technical and competitive preparation, thus contributing to achieving national ambitions.
He pointed out that the great diversity in the categories of participants, both citizens and residents, reflects the success of the Emirati model in attracting talent and building an attractive sports environment that contributes to raising the general technical level and enhancing the competitiveness of national sports.
For her part, President of the UAE Badminton Federation, Noura Al Jasmi, explained that the widespread demand for participation reflects the growing confidence in the federation’s programs and development plans, stressing that the tournament is a pivotal step in implementing the federation’s vision aimed at expanding the base of practitioners and discovering promising elements capable of representing national teams in the future.
She added that the tournament is not limited to the competitive aspect only, but rather forms part of an integrated national path linking tournaments, evaluation programs and long-term development plans, in a way that serves the future of badminton in the UAE.
The tournament witnessed the registration of more than 400 male and female players, representing more than 45 clubs and academies, including government clubs and private academies, which reflects the diverse competitive nature of the tournament and its ability to attract different cultures and sporting experiences, within a professional environment that promotes positive competition and the exchange of experiences.
The organizing committee confirmed that the first edition of the tournament will be full of enthusiasm and technical challenges, in light of the great diversity of levels and age groups, giving the players a real opportunity to highlight their abilities, and allowing the competent technical authorities to evaluate and select talents according to accurate and approved standards, in line with best international practices and experiences.
The tournament includes 10 categories for citizens and 10 categories for residents, within the following age groups: Under 9 years, Under 11 years, Under 13 years, Under 15 years, Under 17 years (males and females).
The winners will receive medals and awards, in addition to selecting a group of distinguished players to join the talent nurturing and development programs of the Emirates Committee for Nurturing Sports Talents and Supporting National Sports, under the supervision of the Ministry of Sports.
The organizing committee concluded by emphasizing that closing registration with these numbers is a clear indication of the importance of the tournament and its future role, as a sustainable strategic platform for discovering champions and creating a new generation of badminton stars in the Emirates.
