The 25th anniversary of Harry Potter…global celebrations and surprises for fans

Warner Bros. Discovery is preparing; To gift a magical year to Harry Potter fans around the world, after revealing its comprehensive plan; To celebrate the 25th anniversary of its famous film, “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone,” which premiered on November 16, 2001, and was directed by Chris Columbus, and was the first part of the “Warner Brothers” cinematic series, consisting of eight films, based on the best-selling novels by J. your. Rowling.

The series has achieved more than $7.7 billion at the global box office, and is scheduled to continue in the future, through a new television series on the HBO platform, expected to be shown in 2027.

The celebrations are scheduled to begin this spring, as special trucks will tour a number of cities around the world, offering a variety of products between the months of March and May. Later in the year, official Harry Potter websites and retail stores around the world will celebrate the main character’s birthday on July 31, by launching special products and organizing special events. A celebration entitled “Return to Hogwarts” will also be held during the following months: August and September, with the aim of gathering fans in an inclusive festive atmosphere.

The anniversary will also be commemorated through special cinema screenings of the first film in the Harry Potter series, including ten minutes of exclusive behind-the-scenes footage never before shown on the big screen. These shows will be held in countries around the world, from August 27 to September 3, and will include surprises that will be announced later.

In addition, the movie “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” will be shown in the halls of “Cosm Theaters” using co-reality technology, accompanied by additional visual shows. This experience will include locations in Los Angeles and Dallas, in addition to opening other locations during this year in Atlanta and Detroit. Ticket sales are scheduled to begin on March 4, in preparation for these spring events.

New products and collections will also be launched; To commemorate the occasion from famous brands, such as:

“Spinmaster, Log, MGA, Jazzwares, Alex & Annie, Hallmark, Rainspooner, Pyramid, Loungefly, Timex, Crocs, and Vera Bradley.” The LEGO team will launch new sets, while Mina Lima will present new artwork and prints. These new and existing products will bear the Harry Potter 25th anniversary logo. Harry Potter stores in the United States, London and Tokyo, in addition to the official website, are preparing to offer limited-edition products to celebrate the occasion, including a special 25th anniversary commemorative teddy bear.

The celebrations are not limited to shows and products, but also include Warner Brothers studio tour experiences in Tokyo and London, where the London branch will present a new summer show that celebrates the movie “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.” Universal Parks will also participate in commemorating the anniversary within the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, through special limited-time offers.

Cillian Murphy joins the “Harry Potter” series…and this is the showtime:

On the other hand, and in a move that was widely welcomed by the public, international star Cillian Murphy began filming his role in the first season of the “Harry Potter” series, where he embodies the character “Lord Voldemort,” succeeding British star Ralph Fiennes, whose name was associated with the character in the “Harry Potter” film series.

The first season of the series is currently being filmed at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the United Kingdom, and will be shown during the first half of 2027 on the HBO and HBO MAX platforms.

Ralph Fiennes had revealed the artist, who will play the character of “Lord Voldemort” instead of him in the “Harry Potter” series, when a journalist asked him about the identity of the star, who he believes will fill his place in the series, during his presence on the red carpet at the special screening of his new movie “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,” to which he replied, saying: “I was informed that the choice has already been decided… right?… I think Cillian Murphy is very wonderful… an excellent choice.”

In the same context, the HBO platform conducted acting tests for about 30,000 actors, to choose the heroes of the three main characters in the series, where the choice fell on Dominic McLaughlin. To embody the character of “Harry Potter”, Arabella Stanton as “Hermione Granger”, and Alastair Stout as “Ron Weasley”.

The book series was accompanied by eight cinematic films bearing the same titles, and its events began around a child whose parents were killed when he was young by Lord Voldemort, before he was left to live with his relatives, after which his journey in the world of magic continued. The series has achieved tremendous global success since the release of the first part, entitled “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone,” on June 30, 1997. It has also been translated into most of the world’s living languages, including Arabic.
