"Emirates Jewels" It concludes its seventh edition with a wide response from visitors

Sharjah, 2nd February, 2017 (WAM) – The activities of the seventh edition of the “Emirates Jewels” exhibition, organized by Expo Center Sharjah with the support of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, concluded in an exceptional session that extended over five days, attracting thousands of visitors and receiving the participation of more than 180 exhibitors of jewelry makers from the Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Lebanon, Italy, Russia, Turkey, Singapore, Thailand, India, Pakistan, and others.

The exhibition included more than 500 local and international brands from the Middle East, Asia and Europe, which included the most famous brands specialized in gold, silver, diamonds, precious stones, natural pearls and luxury watches. Through it, the exhibition confirmed the consolidation of its position as a leading platform in the map of global events specialized in the manufacture and trade of jewelry, regionally and globally.

The exhibition witnessed for the first time the launch of the “Luxury Pavilion”, which constituted a prominent station and display platform dedicated to high-end brands and fine jewelry. The pavilion was designed to include the creations of an exclusive elite of designers and international luxury houses. It attracted a distinguished segment of visitors that included prominent collectors, major buyers, and industry experts, and achieved an exceptional turnout that turned it into a destination for lovers of quality acquisitions.

Under the umbrella of the exhibition, the second edition of the “Sharjah Pearls Exhibition” was launched, which aimed to revive the Emirati pearl diving heritage and organized specialized evenings in strategic partnership with the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), while the “Emirates Goldsmiths” platform, one of the initiatives of the Sharjah Chamber, continued to support Emirati designers and link their creativity to the markets, achieving a 10% growth in the number of affiliated female designers.

His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, confirmed that the Emirates Jewels Exhibition has become a strategic platform within a group of trade events and exhibitions that have a pivotal role in supporting the structure of the knowledge economy adopted by the Emirate of Sharjah, indicating that the exhibition represents an essential pillar in the Chamber’s strategy to enhance the emirate’s position as a regional and international center for the gold and jewelry industry.

He explained that the Chamber is committed to providing an integrated entrepreneurial environment that supports small and medium enterprises in the creative industries sector, which contributes to achieving the goals of the UAE Centennial by empowering young national competencies and providing them with the necessary tools for sustainable competitiveness in the market of precious metals and gemstones.

He added that the successes achieved by the exhibition in attracting industry and design experts from various countries of the world confirm the importance of the Sharjah Expo Center’s agenda and its role in organizing major events in the emirate, reiterating the Chamber’s commitment to supporting the Center to continue its efforts in organizing qualitative events that contribute to the development of the gold and jewelry sector and enhancing its global competitiveness. He pointed out that the initiatives launched by the Chamber to develop the business environment include supporting the participation of local craftsmen in international exhibitions, providing more protection for the national identity in design, and facilitating the access of emerging Emirati brands to international markets, which enhances The country’s position as a global destination for innovation in the luxury jewelry industry.

For his part, His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Center Sharjah, confirmed that the seventh edition of the “Emirates Jewels” exhibition set new standards in the course of the event through the launch of the “Luxury Pavilion,” expanding international knowledge partnerships, and shedding more light on the uniqueness and excellence of gemstones in the world of jewelry design.

He pointed out that the exhibition succeeded in achieving its goals in addition to combining the commercial dimension with interest in innovation in design and supporting creative industries, adding that the continued growth in the number of international pavilions in parallel with the increase in the number of Emirati designers and exhibitors reflects the growing confidence in the exhibition as a global platform that combines commercial excellence and the preservation of heritage in the field of gold, pearls and precious stones.

Mona Al Suwaidi, Director of the Executive Office of the Sharjah Chamber and responsible for the “Emirates Jewelers” platform, explained that participation in the “Emirates Jewels” exhibition represents the most important station in the platform’s annual agenda, as new exclusive collections were revealed that embodied the merging of heritage symbols and modern templates using inherited hand techniques and modern technological tools.

The event witnessed a review of the “Encyclopedia of Heritage Jewellery” prepared by an Emirati researcher over nine years of field research to document the Emirati craft heritage and protect it from extinction. The “Sharjah Pearls Evenings” enriched the exhibition and represented the cognitive aspect of the event, as it hosted international experts in specialized sessions that dealt with the latest international standards for examining and classifying pearls. The accompanying program also included topics on “Stories of the Time of Pearl Diving” through live narratives of travelogues. Historical diving, as well as live workshops to revive traditional crafts such as “pearl beading” and “pearl rowing” using authentic heritage tools, and a special meeting to showcase one of the inspiring diving experiences.

The Italian participation recorded the most prominent attendance in the history of the exhibition, with 36 exhibitors representing the most ancient jewelery houses in Italy. The exhibition was celebrated with many events, competitions and major prizes. The participating pavilions also presented exclusive offers and lucrative deals to visitors on the latest designs of gold, jewellery, and precious stones.
