Sports figures: "Arabic ladies" A model for consolidating women’s sports leadership

Sharjah, February 7 / WAM / Leading sports figures considered the eighth edition of the Arab Women’s Club Games an advanced Arab model for creating future champions and consolidating women’s sports.

The tournament is being held under the patronage of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Sharjah Family and Community Council, with the participation of 65 teams from 16 Arab countries.

These figures confirmed that the event is an exceptional platform for developing Arab women’s sports, refining the skills of female players, and providing opportunities for artistic interaction between different sports schools.

Mohammed Juma bin Hindi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Sports Club, said that the Arab Women’s Club Games represent a source of pride for athletes and for all the people of the UAE and the Emirate of Sharjah in particular, pointing out that its continuity and consolidation in the Arab sports scene did not come from a vacuum, but rather as a result of the continuous support and care it receives from Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, who led the tournament to be one of the most important women’s sporting events in the Arab world.

He added that the integrated logistical preparations and advanced infrastructure provided by the Emirate of Sharjah contributed to providing an attractive professional environment for Arab female athletes, noting that the launch of the “Sharjah Olympic Center for Women’s Sports” in February 2024, which is equipped with the latest systems for performance evaluation and physical and psychological rehabilitation, reflects the scientific approach followed by the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation in preparing and qualifying female athletes according to the highest standards.

He pointed out that the tournament represents a major tributary to the advancement of Arab women’s sports, expressing his congratulations to the Supreme Organizing Committee headed by Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Qasimi on the continued successes achieved by the tournament and praising the efforts of all working committees that reflect the civilized image of the UAE and the Emirate of Sharjah in organizing major sporting events.

For his part, Engineer Daoud Al Hajri, President of the UAE Table Tennis Federation, confirmed that Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi provided the Arab sports arena with an exceptional forum that contributed to a qualitative shift in the process of women’s sports and became one of the most important platforms for refining female players and raising their technical levels in a way that serves their ambitions in regional and international competitions.

He pointed out that the tournament strengthened its presence in the Arab sports scene as a space to highlight women’s talents and energies in a competitive atmosphere based on noble sports values ​​and fair competition, stressing that the continued adoption of table tennis within the competition program contributed to raising the technical level and increasing the intensity of competition, as titles were no longer limited to specific clubs, but rather competitions became more balanced and competitive with the emergence of female players at advanced levels.

In turn, Issa Hilal Al-Hazami stressed that the Arab Women’s Club Games have become an ideal platform for launching the creativity of athletes from various Arab countries and an attractive environment that highlights female talents in a professional competitive framework that reflects the spirit of sports and its values. He pointed out that hosting the UAE and the Emirate of Sharjah for this Arab sports forum represents a source of pride, pointing to the importance of these events in supporting women’s sports and enhancing its role in building people and society, in addition to their impact in encouraging Arab women to practice sports and engage in professional competitions.

For his part, Salem Al Mutawa, Secretary General of the Emirates Basketball Federation, stressed that the tournament’s arrival in its eighth edition reflects sustainable strategic planning based on clear scientific foundations, indicating that Sharjah is proceeding according to an integrated vision in supporting and developing women’s sports. He explained that the tournament contributed to the preparation of a large number of female players who represent the national teams in various games, including basketball, and they achieved achievements at the Gulf, Arab and continental levels, stressing that the successes achieved were not the result of coincidence, but rather the result of work. A thoughtful institutional program led by the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation in cooperation with various partners.

He added that the adoption of a number of games within the tournament by international federations reflects the advanced status it has reached and confirms the qualitative addition it provides to Arab women’s sports thanks to the efforts of the Supreme Organizing Committee and the distinguished work team.
