The Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah discusses the editing of literary manuscripts and Arab contributions to applied sciences


Sharjah, February 9 / WAM / During the eleventh Linguistic Council held yesterday, the Sharjah Arabic Language Academy shed light on “Dr. Samir Al-Droubi’s journey with writing and classification” in the presence of Dr. Muhammad Safi Al-Mustaghanemi, Secretary-General of the Arabic Language Academy, and an elite group of academics, teachers, and Arabic language experts, within the framework of his vision aimed at establishing awareness. In the Arabic language and deepening the connection with its scientific and intellectual heritage.
During the council, Dr. Al-Droubi reviewed the paths of research and investigation and their impact on building knowledge and preserving the Arab scientific heritage, with a special focus on the contributions of Arab science in the experimental and applied fields, especially “agricultural science” through the book “Andalusian Agriculture” by Ibn Al-Awwam Al-Ishbili (d. 580 AH) and the knowledge it carried that contributed to shaping the paths of the European Renaissance. Stressing that some of his experiments and scientific methodology are still present and applicable today.
Dr. Muhammad Safi Mosteghanemi stressed the importance of listening to the experiences of scholars in the fields of authorship, investigation, and classification because of the accumulated knowledge and long experience they carry, pointing out that what Dr. Samir Al-Droubi presents during the council provides a living model of an integrated scientific life path that combined research in history, civilization, Arab-Islamic thought, and the art of shrines, pointing out that such meetings reflect the message of The Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah aims to benefit society from scientific expertise and transform it into available knowledge that enhances cultural awareness and connects generations.
Dr. Samir Al-Droubi explained during the council that his specialization in the art of Maqamat began from his experience in writing the Maqamat of Al-Suyuti, indicating that this art is not limited to being a traditional narrative text, but rather constitutes an advanced field of knowledge that has extended over the centuries in form and content. He explained that Al-Suyuti’s Maqamat dealt with independent topics in medicine, botany, agriculture, and astronomy. Language, social and political criticism, and that working on them opened the horizons of the Arabic library in its various branches after four years of collecting handwritten copies and interviewing texts.
