Unified Medical Operations Command Center: Interactive experiences for visitors "Masters games" And a global response system

ABU DHABI, 14th February, 2020 (WAM) – The Unified Medical Operations Command Center, affiliated with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi and operated from the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center, confirmed the activation of the medical response system for the Abu Dhabi 2026 Masters Games, within the framework of its leadership of the medical committee organizing the event, based on the global smart healthcare system, to deal with emergency situations.

The center offers 4 interactive experiences for its visitors in physical activity, nutrition, sleep, and psychological well-being, which enhances community awareness of a healthy lifestyle and practicing sports activities, and is in line with the goals of the Masters Games in establishing the sustainability of practicing various sports and physical activities, to achieve quality of life.

In its pavilion at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC), the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center receives about 200 visitors daily as part of the “Abu Dhabi 2026 Masters Games” activities.

The pavilion witnesses a virtual reality experience, which includes some breathing and relaxation exercises, amid a great demand from all segments of society to participate and benefit from the interactive experiences.

The center provides more than 30 ambulances daily during the peak of competitions, in addition to the deployment of independent medical teams provided by medical service providers, including up to 45 field and itinerant paramedics, and the operation of 8 field clinics at event sites, under the supervision of more than 40 clinical and medical personnel daily, in addition to support teams of medical volunteers, and 13 light medical vehicles to support field transportation, covering all competition sites and accompanying activities throughout the days of the tournament in which it participates. It contains more than 25 thousand athletes from around the world.

The center also activated two integrated digital platforms within its system to record and manage medical cases during the event, which included a platform to connect clinics, and another to manage ambulance reports, ensuring that cases are documented and followed up through the response stages, starting from the pre-hospital stage until the case arrives at the health facility, to support operational processes and ensure integration with the approved health systems in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The Unified Medical Operations Command Center coordinates and follows up on medical cases that require transfer to hospitals and directs and coordinates with health facilities before, during and after transfer to the hospital in cooperation with Pure Health, Capital Ambulance Company, Response Plus Medical Company (RPM), the National Guard, and the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority.

The center is responsible for leading and planning the medical preparedness and response system for the event, ensuring its readiness to provide the necessary medical support and applying the highest health safety standards for participants, players and visitors, benefiting from the advanced infrastructure, the smart and integrated health system in the emirate, and its ability to protect members of society and meet their needs efficiently and in different circumstances.

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi launched the Unified Medical Operations Command Center, to be operated by its Abu Dhabi Public Health Center in cooperation with a number of medical agencies and institutions from the public and private sectors, with the aim of establishing an intelligent health care system capable of dealing with emergencies, disasters and various crises with great effectiveness and efficiency.

The centre’s preparedness and response model, which is the first of its kind in the world, includes a smart system that includes regulatory regulations and governance foundations for emergency response at the emirate level, including response and coordination procedures that precede hospital admission, all the way to hospital admission, coordination of health care services, and support for medical personnel, by ensuring the availability of strategic medical stock in the emirate, to contribute to enhancing the health of community members and preserving their safety and lives.
