Dubai Civil Aviation launches “remote visual inspection”

The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, in cooperation with the Dubai Customs Department, announced the launch of the remote visual inspection project, in a qualitative step aimed at enhancing the efficiency of inspection procedures, accelerating the completion of transactions, and supporting digital transformation in the aviation sector and customs services.

The authority stated that the launch of the project comes in response to the rapid growth in requests for identifying aircraft spare parts and issuing no-objection certificates, as these services recorded a noticeable increase in the volume of requests, in addition to a clear shift towards relying on remote visual inspection as a basic alternative to field inspection, which reduces the time of procedures.

The remote visual inspection project includes supporting services for issuing a no-objection certificate to inspect and identify aircraft spare parts submitted for inspection of parts in the possession of travelers through Dubai airports or land ports, as the parts are subject to regulatory inspection by the Aircraft Control Department, and accordingly, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority issues a no-objection certificate.

Director General of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Mohammed Abdullah Linjawi, said: “The remote visual inspection represents an advanced model of institutional integration between the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and (Dubai Customs), and reflects our joint commitment to adopting innovative solutions that keep pace with the aspirations of the Dubai government to provide smart, flexible and highly efficient services, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.”

For his part, Director General of Dubai Customs, Dr. Abdullah Busnad, said that “remote visual inspection” represents an advanced model for reducing the time of procedures, enabling a flexible and attractive business environment, raising the efficiency of compliance and operational processes, and improving the customer experience, which reflects positively on Dubai’s global competitiveness.

He added, “The project reflects Dubai Customs’ approach towards developing innovative customs programs and systems, aiming to implement comprehensive and integrated security solutions that meet the aspirations of our customers and increase the readiness of customs ports.”
