After a dispute that lasted for years… a Gulf artist was acquitted of a charge that pursued her

The Bahraini judiciary brought down the curtain on a dispute that lasted for years, after the Minor Criminal Court acquitted the Bahraini artist Hend of a previous case, while convicting a false witness whose testimony contributed to a ruling against her.

The court ruled that the witness be imprisoned for one year with effect, and that he be permanently deported from the country after the execution of the sentence. It also granted the artist the right to demand financial compensation of up to 20,000 Bahraini dinars for the damages she sustained.

Following the ruling, the Bahraini Hind posted on her Instagram account a picture of the Ministry of Justice building in Bahrain, stressing that injustice is forbidden and that the prayers of the oppressed are answered, in a message that many understood as an announcement of the end of the legal crisis that has plagued her during the past period.

The public interacted widely with the ruling, with the hashtag “Hind Bahraini” topping the “X” platform in Bahrain and a number of Gulf countries, amid praise for her victorious exit from the case after years of controversy, and the ruling was considered a rehabilitation of her on both the personal and artistic levels.

The case goes back to a lawsuit filed by a poet in which she said that Hind recorded three songs of her lyrics without paying financial dues estimated at 6,000 Bahraini dinars, based on the testimony of a person who claimed to be the composer’s business manager and confirmed that the rights belong to her.

But the artist appealed this testimony and summoned the composer, who denied knowing the witness or assigning him any task, which revealed that the statement was forged and was used in an attempt to blackmail her financially.

This ruling marks the end of the judicial process in the case, after the foundations on which the previous claims were built fell, which strengthens the position of the Bahraini Hind in any subsequent steps related to rehabilitation and claiming her rights. (Al Ain)
