“Meteorology” expects moderate weather and high humidity in the country during Ramadan

The National Center of Meteorology issued its report on the expected weather conditions during the holy month of Ramadan, for the period from today until next March 19, explaining that the holy month falls this year in the second half of February and the first half of March, within the winter season, as climate indicators indicate that moderate weather prevails in general in most regions of the country.
The report indicated that the number of hours of fasting at the beginning of the month is approximately 12 hours and 46 minutes, and it increases gradually to reach about 13 hours and 25 minutes by the end of the month, according to the local time of the city of Abu Dhabi and its suburbs, noting that the period may increase or decrease by a few minutes at the beginning or end of the month depending on the location.
The report stated that the weather will be moderate during the day during the first half of the month, with a trend toward a slight rise in temperatures during the second half, while the nights are characterized by moderate to pleasant temperatures that tend to cool during the late hours of the night and before dawn, especially in the interior and mountainous areas.
The center explained, based on climate records for the same period, that the average maximum temperatures range between 26 and 32 degrees Celsius, with the possibility of some inland areas recording temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius during the noon hours, while the average minimum temperatures range between 18 and 21 degrees Celsius, and may sometimes drop to approaching or below zero degrees Celsius in some mountainous and inland areas during the early morning hours.
The report indicated that the region was affected during this period by the extension of the Siberian high, which weakens at times, allowing passing lows to pass from the west or east. When coupled with the extension of a deepening upper low, the chances of cumulonimbus clouds forming and rain falling over the country increase.
Regarding rain, the center explained that long-term forecasts indicate that the expected amounts of precipitation will be within normal rates or less, with the monthly average being about 8 mm, pointing out that the highest amount of rain recorded within 24 hours in this period amounted to 287.6 mm in the Shuwaib area on March 9, 2016.
The report also expected a rise in humidity levels during the night and early morning hours, creating the opportunity for mist and light fog to form in some areas, as the average maximum relative humidity ranges between 70% and 85% at night and morning, while the minimum ranges between 20% and 35% during the daytime hours.
He added that the winds are south-easterly at night and in the morning, then turn to north-westerly during the afternoon and evening, “land and sea breezes”, and may sometimes become active as the pressure systems deepen, which leads to the stirring of dust and dust in some areas. The average wind speed is about 13 km/hour, while the highest wind gust at 141 km/hour was recorded in Jabal Mubarrah on February 27, 2010.
