Ukrainian Svitolina defeats Swiss Belinda in Dubai Tennis

The summit that brought together the champions who won the Dubai Tennis Championship for professional players smiled on the face of Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, ranked ninth in the world, after her victory over Swiss Belinda Bencic, ranked 13th in the world, by two sets to one group (4-6, 6-1, 6-3), in a match that brought them together for the quarter-finals, in the tournament currently being held in its 26th edition at the “Dubai Duty Free” courts in the Al Garhoud area in Dubai. It is classified in the 1,000-point category and extends until February 21, with a total prize pool of $4.08 million.
The Ukrainian Svitolina previously won the Dubai Tennis Championship title in 2017 and 2018, and was followed in the 2019 edition by the Swiss Bencic winning her only title, which opens the door for Svitolina to continue her path in the quest to win her third title in the tournament.
Tomorrow, Thursday, in the quarter-finals, Svitolina will meet Croatian Antonia Rogic, ranked 67th in the world, after Rogic succeeded in reserving her seat at the expense of the first seed in the tournament and third seed in the world, Kazakhstani Elena Rybakina, in a match during which Rybakina announced her withdrawal from her third set and the result indicated a tie in a set for the same, after a first set went in favor of Rybakina (7-6), and a second set during which Rogic equalized by deciding the result.
