World number seven Russian Mira Andreeva launched the campaign to defend her title in the “Dubai Tennis Championship” for professional women’s players, by eliminating Belgian Jacqueline Christian, by beating her in two sets without a response (7-5 and 6-3), in a match that brought them together today, Wednesday, at the opening of the quarter-finals, in the tournament currently held in its 26th edition at the “Dubai Duty Free” courts in the Al Garhoud area in Dubai, and classified in the 1000 points category, with a total of prizes amounting to $4.08 million.

Andreeva set a date tomorrow in the quarter-finals with American Amanda Anisimova, ranked sixth in the world, after Amanda succeeded in qualifying for the quarter-finals, by defeating Indonesian Janis Tin, ranked 46 in the world, in two sets to no response (6-1, 6-3).

In turn, the runner-up in “Dubai Tennis” for last year’s edition, the Danish Clara Tausen, ranked 15th in the world, was booked after her victory over the Polish Magda Linette, ranked 50th in the world, in two sets without a response (6-4, 6-2).
