Collapse in a Russian military building kills 3 people

The Governor of the Leningrad Region, Alexander Drozdenko, announced the death of three people, following the collapse of part of a building inside a military facility in the town of Sertolovo, north of St. Petersburg.

The Russian “Mash” channel on the “Telegram” application had previously reported that an explosion had occurred inside a building belonging to the military police, without its causes becoming clear.

Drozdenko stated, on his official Telegram channel, that after completing the removal of rubble from the collapse site, the bodies of three victims were recovered from under the rubble. He also indicated that he had issued instructions to the security services to provide the necessary support to the army in the operations of removing rubble and rescuing the injured, stressing that investigations are still ongoing to uncover the circumstances of the accident.

For its part, Channel 78 News reported, citing an informed source, that one of the victims died after being crushed by a concrete slab, while rescuers continued their efforts to recover two other bodies. The channel also broadcast a picture showing a building believed to be the military police headquarters after the explosion, with part of its roof appearing to have collapsed.
