The UAE-Namibian Business Forum explores mechanisms for enhancing trade and investment relations

Windhoek – Namibia, February 19 / WAM / The UAE-Namibia Business Forum discussed mechanisms for developing trade and investment relations between the UAE and the Republic of Namibia, within the framework of the official visit made by His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, to the Republic of Namibia, at the head of an Emirati delegation that includes senior officials and business leaders, with the aim of empowering the private sector and building new partnerships in sectors of common interest.
His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi stressed that Namibia is a trade and investment partner with promising potential due to its natural resources and strategic location, in addition to ambitious plans for economic diversification.
His Excellency said: “Our discussions during the visit focused on developing mechanisms to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual benefit, and by enhancing dialogue and empowering the private sector on both sides, we are laying the foundations for more diversified and flexible trade and investment relations.”
During the visit, His Excellency Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi and the accompanying delegation participated in the UAE-Namibian Business Forum alongside a number of senior officials and business leaders in Namibia, including Their Excellencies: Salma Ashibala Musafi, Minister of International Relations and Trade, Modestus Amotsi, Minister of Mines and Energy, Dr. Esperance Lovendau, Minister of Health and Social Services, Veko Nikonde, Minister of Works and Transport, and Dr. Sanette Steenkamp, Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture.
During the forum, the two sides discussed ways to build on the thriving trade relations to further advance bilateral ties, as the value of non-oil bilateral trade between the two countries reached 262 million US dollars in 2025.
The two parties also discussed mechanisms for enhancing trade flows, expanding investment partnerships, and strengthening cooperation between the private sector and the business communities, especially in the agriculture and logistics sectors, in addition to other priority areas.
The discussions showed a joint commitment to enhancing economic cooperation and expanding partnership channels in a way that supports sustainable development priorities in both countries.
The accompanying UAE delegation included a number of business leaders in key sectors including mining, renewable energy, infrastructure development, logistics, healthcare and aviation, reflecting interest in deepening economic and investment partnerships with Namibia in these vital areas.
