Abdullah bin Zayed stresses the necessity of reaching an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Sudan

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Musaad Boulos, Advisor to the US President for African and Arab Affairs, during a working visit by His Highness to Washington.
The two sides discussed the strategic relations between the two countries, paths of joint cooperation and ways to develop them in various fields, in a way that serves their common interests and strengthens the foundations of security and stability at the regional and international levels.
During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed the depth and diversity of the strategic relations between the UAE and the United States of America, and the keenness to build on the qualitative partnerships achieved, and deepen cooperation in vital priority sectors, in a way that supports sustainable development paths in the two friendly countries.
The two sides also discussed ways to develop the Emirati-American partnership on the African continent, and enhance joint coordination to support development and stability efforts in their countries, in a way that contributes to supporting the aspirations of the peoples of the continent towards growth and prosperity.
In this context, His Highness stressed the importance of integrating development initiatives between the two friendly countries, and enhancing joint work with regional and international partners to support sustainable development paths and consolidate the foundations of peace and stability in Africa.
The meeting also touched on the tragic developments of the civil war in Sudan, the necessity of reaching an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in a way that alleviates their suffering.
In this regard, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan praised the leadership role played by His Excellency President Donald Trump in preventing Sudan from sliding towards further extremism and division and the aggravation of the humanitarian catastrophe, expressing his appreciation to the United States for holding the humanitarian conference and the Quartet meeting, as two important steps to maintain international momentum in light of the prolongation of the war and its devastating humanitarian repercussions.
His Highness also praised the efforts of Musaad Boulos, his diligent follow-up of the Sudanese file, and his role in supporting efforts aimed at a ceasefire and strengthening the humanitarian response, which contributes to protecting civilians, advancing the path of a political solution, and creating an independent civilian government.
His Highness affirmed the UAE’s firm commitment to continue working with the friendly United States of America and its regional and international partners, to support paths of dialogue, calm, and sustainable political solutions, in a way that contributes to achieving security and development for the peoples of the region and the world.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, Saeed Mubarak Al Hajri, Minister of State, and Yousef Manea Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States of America.
