Dubai Municipality completes the first phase of developing the sewerage and rainwater network in the Al Quoz Creative District at a cost of 250 million dirhams.

Dubai Municipality completed the first phase of the project to develop sewerage and rainwater drainage networks in the Al Quoz Creative District, one of the most vital, economically and investment-active areas, at a cost of 250 million dirhams out of the total cost of all phases of the project, which amounts to more than 500 million dirhams.
The project aims to develop an integrated, flexible and sustainable sewage and rainwater drainage system that serves Al Quoz industrial areas (first, second, third and fourth), and those located between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road, with a total area of up to 1,600 hectares, covering more than 1,507 plots of land.
The work of the first phase of the project included the construction of sewage and rainwater drainage networks covering an area of 155 hectares and 123 plots of land, where the municipality added sewage networks with a total length of 15 kilometers and diameters ranging from 160 to 1,600 mm, supporting the sustainable sewage system in the emirate. The works also included implementing an integrated rainwater drainage network with a length of 14 kilometers, and diameters between 200 and 3,000 mm.
Sustainable system
This project comes within the scope of the emirate’s wastewater system development program, which aims to transform the wastewater system into a sustainable, innovative and more efficient system. In addition to the “Tasreef” program to develop the rainwater drainage network in the emirate, which costs 30 billion dirhams, the largest project to collect rainwater in one system in the region, and the most efficient from an operational standpoint, aiming to enhance the carrying capacity of drainage operations for the next hundred years by 700%.
Engineer Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said: “The project to develop the sewerage and rainwater drainage system in the Al Quoz area is one of the main strategic projects of Dubai Municipality as part of its plans to develop the efficiency of the infrastructure system for the sewer network and rainwater drainage, and to enhance its flexibility, operational processes, and readiness to accommodate the population and urban growth witnessed by the emirate, thus consolidating Dubai’s position as a pioneering city in sustainable urban planning, preparing its infrastructure for the future, and making it a more attractive city.” Sustainability and quality of life.”
He added: “The project will support the integrated urban model that characterizes the Al Quoz region, and enhance its attractiveness as a vital center for economic and investment activities, in addition to keeping pace with the future development needs of the emirate.”

For his part, Engineer Adel Mohammed Al Marzouqi, Executive Director of the Waste and Sanitation Corporation in Dubai Municipality, said: “The project contributes to enhancing the efficiency of the rainwater drainage system and the flow of water flows in the creative Al Quoz area, and reducing gatherings, ensuring the continuity of services and businesses, and supporting the city’s flexibility and readiness to face various future climate conditions.”
