Either safe passage for everyone in Hormuz…or no passage for any ship

US President Donald Trump said that the US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz will be “total or no blockade,” and no ships will be allowed to pass until Iran backs down.

The US President defended his plan to impose a blockade, saying on Sunday that Iran cannot control ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that either all ships enjoy safe passage or none of them do so.

“We will not allow Iran to make money selling oil to countries it favors,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”

“It will be for everyone or no one, that’s the rule,” Trump said.

Trump added that the blockade would be similar to what the United States carried out against Venezuela, but on a larger scale, indicating that this may push more oil tankers to head toward the United States to buy oil.
