Dubai is organizing the largest edition of the International Water Games Championship with the participation of more than 2,000 athletes from 40 countries

Dubai, February 24 / WAM / The Emirates Aquatic Sports Federation announced the organization of the Dubai International Aquatics Championship (DIAC 2026) during the period from March 27 to April 6 at the Hamdan Sports Complex, with expected participation of more than 2,000 athletes from more than 40 countries, marking the largest edition in its history since its launch.

The tournament has official accreditation from the International Federation of Water Sports, which gives its results international recognition. It is also considered one of the qualification stations for the 2026 Dakar Youth Olympics, which enhances its importance on the agenda of the participating federations and teams.

The tournament will be held in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council, and hosted by the Hamdan Sports Complex, with its advanced infrastructure and international regulatory standards, in addition to the technical and organizational partner, the Apex Sports Academy, as part of consolidating Dubai’s position as a global destination for major sports tournaments.

The competitions witness the organization of individual and group races in various age groups, in addition to technical and judging programs that are managed according to the highest international standards, ensuring an advanced competitive level that reflects the development of water sports in the country.

The organizing committee announced the launch of a record-breaking program for the first time in the history of the championship, which includes approving official numbers in the 50-meter and 100-meter races in various types of swimming, along with allocating financial prizes and official certificates to athletes who succeed in breaking the approved numbers, with the aim of stimulating competition and enhancing high performance.

Abdullah Al Wahaibi, Chairman of the Emirates Water Sports Federation’s Steering Committee, confirmed that the tournament represents a strategic milestone within the game’s development plans, noting that the next edition will witness a qualitative leap at the organizational and technical levels.

He said that the tournament represents a global platform for discovering and refining talent and creating champions, with expectations of strong technical levels and distinguished numbers, in light of the continuous work with partners to present an exceptional version that keeps pace with Dubai’s status and its ability to host the most prominent international sporting events.

He added that the Federation has completed its preparations to provide all the requirements for success, welcoming the teams, clubs and swimmers participating in this record edition.
