Widespread participation in jiu-jitsu competitions in the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Ramadan Championship – Al Wathba 2026

Abu Dhabi, 2nd March / WAM / The Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation announced the holding of jiu-jitsu competitions within the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Ramadan Championship – Al Wathba 2026, during the period from 3 to 5 March this year, as part of the activities of the Sheikh Zayed Festival in the Al Wathba area, with the participation of hundreds of male and female players from different age groups, in a distinguished competitive station that reflects the country’s leadership in spreading and developing the game, discovering talent, and organizing tournaments according to the highest professional standards.
The competitions will be held over three days, starting on March 3 for the U-14 and U-16 categories, followed by the U-18 category competitions on March 4, and concluding with the adult category bouts on March 5, in a Ramadan sporting atmosphere that combines the strength of competition and the spirit of community belonging, embodying the position of jiu-jitsu as a well-established national sport that contributes to building strong generations capable of assuming responsibility and moving confidently towards a bright future.
The jiu-jitsu competitions in the tournament embody an extension of the game’s growing presence in major community events, thus enhancing its position as one of the basic pillars of the national sports scene, and providing an integrated competitive platform for male and female players, in an environment that stimulates artistic development, supports the continuity of sports activity, and dedicates a culture of discipline, self-confidence, patience and endurance, as they are authentic values that constitute the essence of this sport.
His Excellency Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said: The jiu-jitsu competitions in the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Ramadan Championship have a special character, because they are held in a societal and cultural context that embraces various games and categories, which reflects the status that the sport has reached as part of the Ramadan scene in the country. In the Year of the Family, this experience takes on a deeper dimension, as competitions turn into a space where children and family members meet within an exemplary environment that combines heritage, sports, and community interaction, which strengthens the generational connection to sports within its cultural and national framework.
He added: The participation of various age groups in jiu-jitsu competitions during the month of Ramadan contributes to maintaining the continuity of the players’ physical and mental readiness, and supports their regularity in the training and competitive rhythm during the holy month. These participations represent an important factor in consolidating the culture of sports as a way of life, in addition to their role in enhancing the players’ readiness for upcoming local and international competitions, which reflects positively on the levels of performance and technical development.
The jiu-jitsu competitions are part of the sports program of the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Ramadan Championship, which is being hosted by the Al Wathba area until March 17, to present an integrated Emirati model that combines sports, society and heritage in a distinctive Ramadan atmosphere, and reflects the magnitude of the gains achieved by the sport of jiu-jitsu thanks to the sound vision and continuous support of the wise leadership, which has placed human empowerment and building generations at the top of its priorities, so these accumulated achievements were a direct result of this support. As a basis for continuing the UAE leadership process on the global stage.
