Saudi Arabia condemns before the Human Rights Council the Iranian attacks on the GCC countries and Jordan

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on behalf of the Arab Group, condemned in the strongest terms the Iranian aggressions and attacks that targeted the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Kuwait, the State of the United Arab Emirates, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Sultanate of Oman, stressing that these attacks constitute a grave violation of international law, a clear violation of the Charter of the United Nations, and a direct assault on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.
This came during the Kingdom’s participation in a statement delivered by the Permanent Representative to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Abdul Mohsen bin Majid bin Khathila, on behalf of the Arab Group, in the general debate under the second item, within the work of the sixty-first session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.
The Kingdom affirmed in the statement, reported by the Saudi Press Agency, that this targeting represents a serious violation of international humanitarian law and international human rights law, and threatens regional stability and international peace and security. It stressed that these attacks come at a time when Arab countries are making intense efforts to mediate, reduce escalation, and give priority to political solutions and dialogue, which makes this escalation unjustified and undermines efforts to achieve security and stability.
In the statement, the Kingdom expressed its full solidarity with the targeted Arab countries, and affirmed its inherent right to defend itself, in accordance with the provisions of international law and the United Nations Charter, and to take the necessary measures to protect its people and their security.
