Egypt stresses the importance of sparing Lebanon the risks of escalation

Today, Monday, Egypt affirmed its firm position on the importance of sparing Lebanon the dangers of escalation, stressing the necessity of an immediate cessation of Israeli military operations.
This came during a phone call that took place today between the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Badr Abdel-Ati, and Nawaf Salam, the Lebanese Prime Minister, within the framework of the dangerous military escalation taking place in the region, according to Foreign Ministry spokesman Tamim Khallaf.
The official spokesman stated, in a press statement, that the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed his keenness to check on the situation in Lebanon, and to follow the successive developments on the Lebanese scene in light of the current regional tensions, reiterating Egypt’s full support for Lebanon and its people in this delicate circumstance.
In this context, Minister Abdel Ati listened to a detailed presentation on the repercussions of the Israeli attacks against Lebanon, and the direct threat they pose to the security and stability of the country.
Minister Abdel-Ati reiterated Egypt’s position in support of respecting Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and ensuring its security and the capabilities of its people.
