The story of the historical landmark
The story of the historical landmark goes back to the visit of the Prophet – may God bless him and grant him peace – to Banu Unif during his visit to the companion Talha ibn Al-Baraa during his illness, and he prayed peace and blessings be upon him in that place. Then a mosque was built in the place of his prayer, and in its beginning it was empty of buildings, before it was later built using black basalt stones and adobe, but the factors of time did not Only limited traces remain of its old building.
Restoration and development work
The mosque witnessed several restoration and rehabilitation works as part of the program to care for historical mosques during the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God protect him – as the implementation took into account the preservation of The archaeological identity of the site, keeping its roof exposed to support its historical character, installing spaced wooden columns to enhance the cohesion of the walls, and allowing natural ventilation, in addition to hanging lanterns for lighting, in a way that is consistent with the heritage environment of the mosque.
The floor of the mosque was covered with white marble, and its outer courtyard was planted with shrubs and palms, along the dark basalt rocks that form the wall of the historic mosque, in a scene that combines simplicity. And traditional beauty.
The mosque is located near the Quba Mosque, specifically to the southwest of it, and it is preferable to visit it during daylight hours to enjoy the beauty of its architectural details and see its design elements.
