Qatar.. A company was closed for a month and fined one million riyals for raising prices

The Qatari Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced in a post on its official account on the “X” platform that it had administratively closed a company for a month, and imposed a fine of one million Qatari riyals, for violating the provisions of Article (10) of Law No. (8) of 2008 regarding consumer protection.

The Ministry explained that the closure decision came as a result of the company increasing prices without obtaining prior approval from the Ministry, and not adhering to the principles and controls of increasing prices, which constitutes a clear violation of the provisions of the law.

The Ministry confirmed that this measure comes as part of its ongoing efforts to monitor markets and ensure suppliers’ compliance with applicable laws and regulations, stressing that it will not tolerate any violations that would harm the rights of consumers, or disrupt the business environment in the country. The Ministry called on all citizens and residents to report any violations or illegal practices through known communication channels.
