Frenchman Pierre Pineau won the Hilton Classic golf tournament, one of the Mina Golf Tour tournaments, which was held at the Al-Hawara Golf Club in Tangier, Morocco, after finishing the competition with a total of 10 strokes under par, two strokes ahead of his compatriot Andoni Echenique.

The MENA Golf Tour, which is a pioneering Emirati initiative and the only one in the region that awards world ranking points to golfers, continues to achieve its successes during the current season, after the conclusion of the Moroccan tournament series, within the tour calendar that started this year from Portugal, through Egypt and Morocco.

The tour’s competitions are scheduled to continue with the “Qatar Classic” tournament at the Doha Golf Club from March 23 to 25, before the season concludes with the Al Ain Championship at the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club during the period from March 30 to April 1.

The title of season champion is scheduled to be decided during the final tournament in Al Ain at the end of this month, with the tour returning to the UAE, where it is based, and from where it started in 2011.

This season, the tour offers financial prizes amounting to US$100,000 for each tournament, in addition to points approved by the World Golf Ranking, providing participating players with a clear path to qualify for the most prominent international tours in the game.

Pino won the first prize money of $18,000 for the tournament after topping the overall standings.
