Amendments to the English Premier League’s refereeing guidelines… Hair pulling does not mean expulsion

The English Premier League said that pulling an opponent’s hair will not necessarily lead to a direct red card, under changes to the refereeing guidelines for next season.
The association added in a statement that a red card will be given in the event of hair pulling using “excessive force and/or violence,” while incidents that are considered intentional, but without the use of excessive force, will be punished with a yellow card.
This change comes after Manchester United player Lisandro Martinez, Everton player Michael Keane, and Sunderland player Daniel Ballard were sent off for pulling their opponents’ hair last season.
