America began using British bases in defensive operations against Iran

The United Kingdom government announced Saturday that the United States has begun using British bases in “defensive operations” against Iran in the conflict in the Middle East.
A statement by the British Ministry of Defense on the
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer angered US President Donald Trump by refusing to get involved in the ongoing conflict between the United States and Israel on the one hand and Iran on the other hand, which began on February 28.
But Starmer later agreed to the United States’ request to use two military bases for “specific defensive purposes.”
The two bases are Fairford in the county of Gloucestershire in southwest England, and Diego Garcia in the Chagos Archipelago in the Indian Ocean.
An Agence France-Presse photographer reported on Saturday that an American B-1 bomber had landed at the Fairford base.
An American C-5 Galaxy plane could also be seen on the runway of the base, in the vicinity of which an anti-war protest movement was organized.
