Schools stress… not providing alternative ministerial equipment for students in the event of damage and misuse

Government school administrations stressed that the ministerial device designated for distance learning is in the student’s custody, and that the responsibility for maintaining it falls entirely on the student and the guardian, from the moment it is delivered, stressing that it is not possible to provide alternative devices for students in the event that the device is damaged, lost, or misused, due to the lack of additional tablet devices in schools.
The administrations explained, in school letters addressed to parents and seen by Emirates Today, that this procedure comes based on the parents’ guide for distance learning, which stipulates that the guardian is responsible for providing the basic tools necessary to enable the student to follow the educational process on a regular basis. These tools include a suitable device for learning, whether it is a computer or tablet, in addition to basic stationery, a calendar for organizing study dates, sheets of paper for notes, and a small whiteboard with pens for interactive activities.

The schools indicated that the weather conditions and current conditions prevented the presence of technical support teams in schools during the current period, which requires parents to communicate directly with the concerned authorities in the event of any technical malfunctions related to the devices.
The departments indicated that in the event of a malfunction in the device, parents can contact the service office of the Ministry of Education via the designated e-mail or the approved phone number, to ensure receiving the necessary technical support and taking appropriate measures in accordance with the approved policies.

School administrations confirmed that the ministerial devices delivered to students are a personal trust, and the student and his guardian bear the responsibility for preserving them and using them properly, while schools apologize for providing alternative devices in cases of damage, loss, or misuse, given the limited resources available.
Schools called on parents to follow up on their children and ensure the safety of the devices and their correct use, in a way that ensures the continuity of distance learning without obstacles, and enhances students’ readiness to follow the requirements of the educational process in various circumstances.
