Sheikha bint Saif: Fulfilling wishes is a life message that draws hope at the beginning "Family year"

ABU DHABI, 6 APRIL / WAM / The wife of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Advisor to His Highness the President of the State, Sheikha Sheikha bint Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the “Make a Wish” Foundation, confirmed that the achievements achieved by the Foundation during the first quarter of the “Year of the Family” reflect a firm humanitarian commitment to the message of spreading hope among members of society and restoring smiles on the faces of sick children, stressing that granting wishes goes beyond being a humanitarian initiative to become A bridge that restores meaning to life in the hearts of children and their families.
Sheikha Sheikha explained that the Foundation succeeded during this period in fulfilling 296 humanitarian wishes, which varied between 129 wishes within the UAE, and extended to sister countries such as the Arab Republic of Egypt with 100 wishes, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with 45 wishes, in addition to fulfilling seven wishes in Yemen and 15 wishes in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in a clear confirmation of the cross-border humanitarian dimension that the Foundation adopts.
She added that these wishes included inspiring experiences, including 285 wishes, “I would like to have,” and 9 travel wishes, including 7 international and 2 local, in addition to two wishes in the categories, “I would like to meet” and “I would like to be,” which reflects the diversity of wishes that the Foundation seeks to fulfill.
She pointed out that these efforts were concentrated in prestigious medical institutions, where cooperation took place with 21 hospitals, including 17 inside the country and 6 outside the country, which enhances the impact of the initiative in reaching the most needy children. Children of 19 different nationalities benefited from the fulfillment of these wishes, 165 males and 131 females, suffering from about 35 various medical conditions, which reflects the comprehensiveness of the foundation’s humanitarian mission and the wide scope of its influence.
Sheikha Sheikha bint Saif pointed out that the efforts of the “Make a Wish” Foundation during the first quarter of the “Year of the Family” in the UAE were not limited to sick children only, but extended to embrace their families and the entire community, through humanitarian initiatives and community activities that strengthened the spirit of solidarity and support, noting that the “Wish Race” event embodied this meaning with the participation of more than 1,300 contestants from various categories, in addition to the launch of the “Make 100 Wishes” initiative during the month of Ramadan, Stressing that the true impact is not measured only by what is provided, but rather by the reassurance and strength it leaves in the heart of every family, which is the message that the Foundation continues to consolidate in its humanitarian journey.
She said that the Year of the Family represents a renewed opportunity to promote the values of compassion and solidarity, and to consolidate the culture of giving and social responsibility, and it confirms that fulfilling the wish of a sick child does not affect him alone, but rather extends its impact to his family and his societal environment, to instil hope and give strength to face health and psychological challenges and build more cohesive and prosperous societies.
