Vinicius attacks Xabi Alonso: We were not getting along

Real Madrid’s Spanish striker, Brazilian Vinicius, admitted that he did not get along with the team’s former coach, Xabi Alonso, during his period of training for the team early this season.

The British news agency, PA Media, reported that Alonso was appointed coach of Real Madrid last May, and returned again to the club, with whom he won titles locally and in Europe as a player. However, despite his strong start, the team’s results declined under his leadership, which caused his departure from the club last January after losing to Barcelona 3-2 in the Super Cup final.

Vinicius had a dispute with Alonso during the latter’s tenure as coach of the team, and the Brazilian striker was asked about that before his team faced German club Bayern Munich, also a former team of Alonso, in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.

Vinicius said: “My period with Xavi was an experience in which I learned a lot. I developed as a person, but I did not get along with him, but I feel good with Alvaro Arbeloa, and he gives me a lot of confidence, just as Carlo Ancelotti does.”

Vinicius’s level declined under Alonso’s leadership, and he did not score any goals in 16 matches with Real Madrid, and in contrast, he scored 10 goals in the last 12 matches with Arbeloa.

Vinicius added: “I always do my best for the team. I never thought that I would stay away from scoring goals for a long time, as was the case when I was younger and lacked focus, but I learned from that bad period, and good players can always come back.”
