The cyclist gave a strong performance in an individual race against time that extended for a distance of 13.8 kilometers, where he finished the stage with a time of 17 minutes and 36 seconds, 27 seconds behind the first-place finisher, confirming his readiness to compete for the advanced positions in the general standings.
The stage witnessed a strong start from the UAE team rider, as he imposed a high pace from the first kilometers, and succeeded in maintaining a constant level of performance throughout the race, especially in the difficult sections and technical turns, which enabled him to record one of the best times on the opening day.
The team also recorded a distinguished presence in this stage, after team rider Brandon McNulty came in eighth place, 43 seconds behind the lead.
The coming days will witness strong competition, with the race moving to more difficult stages in terms of terrain, as the heights will play a decisive role in determining the identity of the winner of the title.
