“Emirates Doctors” and the European Center for Disaster Medicine launch the “Jaheziya International” program

The Emirates Doctors Initiative, in cooperation with the European Center for Disaster Medicine, launched the “Readiness International” programme, as a unified and integrated international program for training in preparedness and response, aiming to develop skills, build competencies, raise the level of preparedness, and enhance the humanitarian medical response to the first line of defence, according to a unified and internationally approved training curriculum that enables cadres to serve communities during emergencies, disasters and crises.

The program comes in line with the directives of the wise leadership to adopt innovative initiatives to invest in the human element and advance the health sector, and to strengthen partnerships with the most prominent American, European and British education and training centers, which contributes to establishing a global platform that supports science and scientists and harnessing knowledge to serve humanity.

The initiative is consistent with the global efforts led by the World Health Organization to enhance the role of science in protecting human health and building resilient healthcare systems that are prepared for the future and capable of responding effectively to emergencies, crises and disasters.

The program focuses on developing a comprehensive global framework for emergency preparedness and response through capacity building, skills development, competency development, enhancing preparedness, and improving the speed and efficiency of response, through a unified, integrated, and internationally approved training methodology that ensures unification of standards and enhances coordination between the health care, emergency, and security sectors.

The “International Readiness” initiative attaches special importance to investing in human capital as it is the cornerstone of the preparedness system, targeting responders on the front lines in various sectors, including health care workers, emergency medical services, civil defense, police, and security forces, in accordance with the highest international standards.

The program integrates advanced training techniques, including high-fidelity medical simulation, artificial intelligence, and data-based decision-making tools, which enhance operational performance and enable response teams to quickly and accurately deal with emergency situations.

The program is supported by academic partnerships with more than ten international training centers in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe, with the aim of transferring knowledge, adopting best practices, and providing high-quality, internationally accredited training programs.

In its first operational phase within the UAE, the program achieved national success, as more than 20,000 first responders from more than 200 nationalities were trained in the health care, emergency and security sectors, within an integrated global model that is the first of its kind.

The head of the European Center for Disaster Medicine, Professor Roberto Megavero, stressed that the program represents an important step towards unifying training frameworks and enhancing international cooperation in emergency and disaster medicine, noting that the initiative provides a global model for translating science into practical practices, building human capabilities and enhancing readiness through advanced training and international partnerships.

He said that the cooperation between “Emirates Doctors” and the European Center for Disaster Medicine highlights the importance of global integration in developing preparedness systems, transferring knowledge, and building more efficient and sustainable response frameworks.

For his part, the CEO of the Zayed Giving Initiative, Chairman of the Emirates Doctors Initiative and the Emirates “Jaheziya” Programme, Dr. Adel Al-Shammari Al-Ajmi, stressed that the launch of the “Jaheziya International” program represents a practical application of the slogan of World Health Day and reflects the UAE’s commitment to transforming science into an impact that enhances global health security, builds the competencies of the first line of defense, raises the readiness of the health sectors, and enhances the response of ambulance, civil defense, police, emergency and disaster teams, according to a unified and internationally approved approach, indicating that the program constitutes a global model that integrates… Science, training and technology to build resilient health systems that enhance preparedness, improve response and save lives.
