The UAE is closely following the ceasefire announcement and stresses the need for Iran’s commitment to stop terrorist attacks and ensure freedom of navigation

The UAE expressed its careful follow-up to the announcement of His Excellency Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, regarding a two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran, stressing its quest to obtain further clarifications regarding the terms of the agreement to ensure Iran’s full commitment to immediately halting any hostilities in the region and reopening the Strait of Hormuz completely and unconditionally.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained in a statement that the treacherous Iranian attacks that targeted infrastructure, energy facilities, and civilian sites during the past 40 days, which included about 2,760 ballistic missiles, mobile phones, and drones, and the resulting human and material losses, require taking firm stances, with Iran being held accountable and fully compensated for the damages and losses.

The Ministry indicated that addressing Iranian threats must be comprehensive and complete, including: nuclear capabilities, ballistic missiles, drones, military capabilities, its agents and terrorist arms in the region, and stopping threats targeting freedom of navigation, economic warfare, and piracy in the Strait of Hormuz, expressing its hope to achieve sustainable peace for all countries of the region.

The UAE confirmed that it was not a party to this war, and made intensive diplomatic efforts to prevent it from occurring, including bilateral channels and movements across the Gulf Cooperation Council, indicating that it was able to protect its sovereignty, security, and national interests with all determination, stressing the need for Iran to implement United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 2817 (2026) issued on March 11, 2026, which condemned the Iranian attacks and called for their immediate cessation.
