Sharjah honors a group of Jordanian intellectuals


Amman, April 16 / WAM / The Sharjah Forum for Cultural Honor continued its celebratory tour, moving between Arab cities and capitals, confirming its established presence as a pioneering honorary initiative that enhances the Arab cultural scene and celebrates Arab creators in their homelands, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
In its new station, the forum landed in the Jordanian capital, Amman, where the twenty-sixth session was held, which celebrated four Jordanian innovators: the translator Dr. Muhammad Asfour, the critic Dr. Nayef Al-Ajlouni, the writer and heritage researcher Dr. Ahmed Sharif Al-Zoubi, and the poet Maryam Al-Saifi.
The forum comes in implementation of the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, to honor literary figures who have contributed to serving contemporary Arab culture. It is the sixth time that the forum has been held in Jordan, after it celebrated a group of intellectuals in previous sessions.
The forum was organized at the National Library Department yesterday evening in Amman, in the presence of His Excellency Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Owais, Head of the Sharjah Department of Culture, Dr. Nidal Al Ayasrah, Secretary General of the Jordanian Ministry of Culture, representing the Jordanian Minister of Culture, Mustafa Al Rawashdeh, and Muhammad Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs at the Department, and a large number of Jordanian and Arab writers, thinkers, and intellectuals interested in cultural affairs.
The atmosphere of the forum witnessed an intense presence of the families of the honorees, expressing their joy and pride in this honour, in a humanitarian scene that reflected the family’s gathering around the honoree, which gave the honoring event a special celebratory character, as the attendees interacted with the honorees, offering at the same time thanks to Sharjah, in appreciation of its pioneering role in supporting culture and nurturing creators.
The attendees also interacted with the forum’s sections in a spirit of participation, which contributed to enhancing the human dimension of the forum, and made it a space for various groups, in a scene that reflects the depth and importance of the cultural presence.
The Jordanian poet Iman Abdel Hadi moderated the ceremony, noting in her speech the prominent cultural role played by Sharjah at the level of the Arab world and the world, stressing that the Cultural Honor Forum is part of a broad cultural project, the Sharjah Cultural Project.
For his part, Abdullah Al Owais stressed in his speech that the forum has established its presence in the Arab cultural scene, until it has become a shining beacon and a high platform for celebrating those with creative words, and honoring the intellectual statures that have been loyal to Arab culture, and made creativity a message, and knowledge a path to advance the human being.
He added that this meeting is dedicated to honoring an elite group of dear Jordanian writers who devoted themselves to their creativity and perfumed their cultural giving with deep thought and a broad human vision. They contributed to the enrichment of Arab culture and confirmed its renewed presence. This honor comes in deserved appreciation for the cultural heritage that Jordan abounds, and the writers, writers and poets who, across successive generations, have formed flowing tributaries in the process of Arab literature, and an essential pillar of thought, enlightenment and beauty. .
Al Owais pointed out that this blessed gathering is an eloquent expression of the fruitful cooperation between the Sharjah Department of Culture and the Jordanian Ministry of Culture, and emanates from well-established fraternal ties between the United Arab Emirates and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, under the auspices of the wise leadership of the two countries.
For his part, His Excellency Mustafa Al Rawashdeh, in his speech delivered on his behalf by Dr. Nidal Al Ayasra, stressed that the forum reminds us of the creative people, and provides the opportunity to see their achievements with the generous gesture and diligent care of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, thanking His Highness for his sponsorship and support of a series of cultural events concerned with Arab civilization, especially the Arabic language and Arabic poetry. Especially the Poetry Houses Initiative, of which Jordan received a large share.
He pointed out that the Ministry of Culture and the Department of Culture in the Sharjah Government worked in a true partnership based on honesty and transparency, and belief in creativity as a renewed state of giving and giving, preserving achievements, and supporting cultural elites as role models for generations to follow, in a way that serves Arab culture in all fields.
For his part, Dr. Nayef Al-Ajlouni expressed in his speech to the honorees his appreciation to the sponsor of this honor, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, pointing out that the Sharjah Department of Culture’s celebration of the distinguished intellectual and creative achievements throughout the Arab arena and its continued contribution to serving contemporary Arab culture go beyond the limits of personal honoring to horizons of knowledge with general national and humanitarian dimensions.
He pointed out that the Sharjah Cultural Honors Forum, as it moves from one Arab capital to another, embodies the unity of the Arabic language and its literature, just as it confirms the unity of Arab culture and its multiple richness at the same time.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Abdullah Al Owais, Muhammad Al Qasir, and Dr. Nidal Al Ayasra handed over certificates of appreciation to the four honorees, and the certificates bore the signature of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, in appreciation of their literary and intellectual efforts in the Arab cultural arena.
On the sidelines of the honoring ceremony, an exhibition was held that included a number of publications from the Sharjah Department of Culture, including: Sharjah Cultural Magazine, Al-Rafid Magazine, Al-Qawafi Magazine, Theater Magazine, and Al-Heera Magazine from Sharjah, in addition to a number of various publications in the literary fields. The exhibition witnessed a large audience attending to purchase the publications, as they viewed various cultural titles.
