Iran re-closes Hormuz… and accuses America of “violating the agreement”

Iran reimposed restrictions on the Strait of Hormuz today (Saturday), accusing the United States of violating an agreement on its reopening, according to the Associated Press.

Iran quickly retracted its decision to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and re-imposed restrictions on it, after the United States announced that this step would not end the blockade it imposed.

The joint military command in Iran announced that “control over the Strait of Hormuz has returned to its previous status… under tight management and supervision by the armed forces.”

It also warned that it would continue to prevent ships from crossing the strait as long as the American blockade on Iranian ports continued.

This announcement came the morning after US President Donald Trump said that the US blockade “will remain in full force” until Tehran reaches an agreement with the United States, including its nuclear program.
