initiative "Nima: The UAE Agricultural Conference and Exhibition is a platform that enhances the efficiency of the food security system and reduces waste

Al Ain, April 23 / WAM / Kholoud Hassan Al Nowais, Chief Sustainability Officer at the Emirates Foundation and Secretary General of the “Naama” Initiative, confirmed that the UAE Agricultural Conference and Exhibition 2026, which is currently being held at the ADNEC Center in Al Ain and continues until April 26, is an important platform that highlights the latest practices and technologies, including applications of artificial intelligence, that contribute to enhancing the efficiency of the food security system in the country.

Kholoud Hassan Al Nowais confirmed in a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the initiative’s participation in the second edition of the conference aims to enhance cooperation with various actors in the agricultural sector, and learn about the latest practices and technologies that contribute to raising the efficiency of the food production system, and reducing loss and waste across the supply chain.

She explained that the “Naama” initiative seeks, through this participation, to support efforts aimed at reducing the amount of food lost before it reaches the consumer, in addition to identifying innovations and specialized technologies that contribute to building more sustainable food systems.

She added that the national initiative “Naama” is based on five main axes, including raising the level of community awareness, building strategic partnerships, supporting the development of legislation, empowering innovative small and medium enterprises, in addition to promoting sustainable behaviors aimed at reducing food waste.

She pointed out that the initiative aims to reduce food waste by 50% by 2030, through integrating efforts with various agencies and institutions across the food supply chain.

Al Nowais explained that during the exhibition, a cooperation agreement was signed with Sellal Company, which aims to strengthen the partnership in the field of redirecting surplus food from farmers to deserving groups, thus contributing to reducing food waste and maximizing the use of resources in charitable and humanitarian work.

The agreement was described as an important step in the process of achieving the goals of food sustainability in the country, and reflects the commitment of various parties to adopt innovative solutions that contribute to reducing food loss and waste.
