Sharjah strengthens its presence in the creative industries sector during Milan Design Week

Milan, April 28 / WAM / The Emirate of Sharjah has strengthened its presence in the creative industries sector through a new international partnership concluded by the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park with the global design platform “Frome”, on the sidelines of the activities of Milan Design Week 2026.

The agreement was signed during the association’s delegation’s visit to the city of Milan, where it was briefed on Frome’s activities, exhibitions and cross-cultural design initiatives linking Msheireb in Doha to the city of Milan.

Under the agreement, “From Lab”, the educational and development arm of the platform, will cooperate with the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park through “Headquarters 39”, to launch a specialized program in furniture and design, which aims to support emerging talents, enhance creative exchange, and open new horizons for the design sector in the region.

This partnership comes within the framework of the complex’s efforts to enhance Sharjah’s position as a leading center for creative industries and design-based innovation, by empowering designers and entrepreneurs, providing an integrated environment that includes workspaces and development programs, and linking them to local and international networks.

His Excellency Hussein Al Mahmoudi, Executive Director of the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park, stressed that cooperation with “FROM” and “FROM Lab” contributes to providing qualitative opportunities for talent in the region to interact with global platforms, gain experiences, and transform ideas into products that can grow and compete internationally, in addition to attracting international expertise and creativity to Sharjah.

He pointed out that this partnership is consistent with the UAE’s trends in supporting the industrial sector and promoting local content, especially through national initiatives such as “Made in the UAE,” by linking design outputs with manufacturing opportunities, supporting emerging companies, and enabling the transformation of ideas into products that are manufactured locally and compete in global markets.
