The Gulf consultative summit in Jeddah concluded with the rejection of Iran’s illegal measures to close the Strait of Hormuz

The Gulf consultative summit for leaders and heads of delegations of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries concluded in Jeddah today. The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, said in a statement that the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council expressed their categorical rejection of the illegal Iranian measures to close the Strait of Hormuz, obstruct navigation in it, and threaten its security, and any measures that would negatively affect navigation in it, including imposing fees under any circumstances or name for ships to pass through it, and the necessity of restoring the security and freedom of navigation and the return of conditions in the Strait as they were before February 28. 2026 AD.

The summit discussed the current regional situation, especially related to the escalation in the region, the blatant Iranian attacks that the GCC countries and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan were subjected to, and ways to find a diplomatic path to end the crisis and pave the way for reaching agreements and understandings that address the sources of concern of the GCC countries and enhance security and stability in the long term.

They praised the ability of the GCC countries to deal with the challenges these countries faced as a result of this crisis.

Al-Budaiwi added that the leaders expressed strong condemnation and denunciation of the blatant Iranian attacks against the GCC countries and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which affected civilian facilities and infrastructure facilities therein, and the resulting loss of life and property, which constitute a grave violation of the sovereignty of the GCC countries, the Charter of the United Nations, international law, and the rules of good neighborliness. These treacherous Iranian attacks have led to a sharp loss of the GCC countries’ confidence in Iran, which requires Iran to By taking the initiative to make serious efforts to rebuild trust.
