المملكة: The Kingdom joins the Arab world in celebrating "Day of the observer and weather forecaster"


The Kingdom joins the Arab world in celebrating «Atmospheric monitoring and forecasting, and enhancing preparedness to confront extreme weather phenomena, in addition to raising the level of societal awareness of the importance of climate information, and supporting the exchange of experiences and knowledge between Arab countries in the fields of meteorology.

Developing monitoring systems

The CEO of the National Center of Meteorology, Dr. Ayman bin Salem Ghulam, confirmed that the Kingdom attaches great importance to the meteorological sector by developing monitoring and forecasting systems, and benefiting from the latest technologies, including It contributes to raising the accuracy of forecasts and enhancing community safety, noting that national cadres of observers and forecasters represent a fundamental pillar in the work system, and have a pivotal role in supporting decision-making and dealing with various weather conditions.

He added, congratulating the observers and forecasters on this occasion: “We appreciate the great efforts made by weather observers and forecasters, and the precise professional work they provide that contributes to protecting lives and property and raising the level of readiness to deal with phenomena. Air Force, and we are proud of our national cadres who continue to work efficiently and competently to serve the nation and society.”

It is noteworthy that the Arab ministers concerned with meteorological and climate affairs have approved the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s proposal to designate a day to celebrate weather observers and forecasters, in appreciation of their efforts, to be on May 2 of each year. The National Center of Meteorology is also working to implement a number of specific initiatives and programs, and to strengthen partnerships with relevant authorities, in a way that contributes to achieving national integration and raising the efficiency of responding to weather conditions, in accordance with international best practices.
