Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi meets with accomplished sports team players at the University of Sharjah
Sharjah, 5 May / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, President of the University of Sharjah, met today with the players of the sports teams at the University of Sharjah who achieved achievements in the UAE University Games Championship 2025-2026, in the University’s Student Forum building.
His Highness, the President of the University of Sharjah, praised the distinguished results achieved by the university’s sports teams, extending his thanks and appreciation to the male and female players for their efforts that contributed to achieving achievements and winning titles. His Highness stressed that sporting successes are no less important than academic achievements, considering the players to be ambassadors for the university and the best representatives of it in various local and international forums.
His Highness recalled his university studies and participation in sporting activities, noting its role in strengthening relations between students and introducing them to their colleagues from various specialties, colleges and nationalities.
His Highness stressed that sports contribute to bringing communities closer together and enhancing the spirit of familiarity between them, recommending that players must demonstrate sports ethics and be keen to be role models. His Highness expressed his pride in the achievements achieved, wishing them continued success and continuing to achieve more successes that benefit the player and the university.
For his part, Dr. Essam El-Din Ajami, Director of the University of Sharjah, appreciated the students’ efforts and the honorable results they achieved that reflect the university’s position and enhance its presence among universities in sports competitions, stressing that the University of Sharjah is not limited to academic and research aspects only, but is also keen to support excellence in various fields, including sports and community activities, which contributes to enriching the student experience and making it have a lasting impact on the student’s life.
He added that the university pays great attention to developing students’ skills and refining their abilities in various fields, enabling them to achieve comprehensive excellence, which reflects positively on their success on the personal and collective levels, wishing everyone continued success and continued achievements.
The University of Sharjah teams achieved sporting achievements at the conclusion of the UAE University Games Championship 2025-2026, at the level of group sports for boys and girls, where the student teams succeeded in seizing first places in the football, basketball, and volleyball competitions, after presenting high technical levels that surpassed all participating universities.
At the girls’ team level, it won the basketball and volleyball championships, which confirms the pioneering role of the University of Sharjah in supporting women’s sports and preparing ways to achieve leadership in various forums.
The University of Sharjah was also crowned with the General Sports Excellence Shield, which is the shield awarded by the Emirates Sports Federation to the school and university education institutions that obtain the highest number of points in the general total of all competitions. This shield is an affirmation of the comprehensiveness of sports excellence at the university and the integration of administrative and technical work in the sports activity sector.
These achievements come to strengthen the position of the University of Sharjah as a leading destination not only at the academic and research level, but also as a sports center that contributes to supplying the UAE national teams with young and qualified cadres.
