The Head of State on the 50th anniversary of the unification of the armed forces: The UAE is strong with its people and invincible with its unity
Abu Dhabi, 5 May / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, affirmed that the UAE has sought, since its establishment, prosperity and development for its people and the peoples of the world, but at the same time it has dealt decisively and forcefully with any threat to its sovereignty, security, and the safety of its people and those residing on its land. His Highness added that the state is capable of, with the efficiency of its army, the cohesion of its society, and the strength of its model, to respond to any attack, confront any threat, and continue moving forward.
His Highness said in his speech on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the unification of the armed forces: “Today we celebrate a historical milestone, represented by the decision to unify our armed forces, which expresses the far-sightedness of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed, and his fellow rulers, may God have mercy on them, and their wisdom and insightful vision.”
His Highness stressed that building our defense capabilities will remain a major strategic goal within the comprehensive and sustainable development vision of the UAE, so that our armed forces remain, as they have always been, a shield that protects, a sword that deters, and a fence that preserves our march towards the future.
His Highness added: “We celebrate this glorious national anniversary in an atmosphere of national pride after our armed forces wrote a wonderful national epic in the face of the Iranian terrorist attacks that targeted civilians and civilian sites, and dealt with them with courage, competence and ability.”
The following is the text of the speech of His Highness the President of the State on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the unification of the armed forces:
“My sons and daughters, members of the valiant armed forces. May God’s peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you. May God bless you and your sincere efforts in defending the homeland and the security of its citizens and residents.
Today we celebrate a historical milestone, represented by the decision to unify our armed forces on May 6, 1976, which expresses the far-sightedness of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed, and his fellow rulers, may God have mercy on them, and their wisdom and insightful vision.
The occasion this year is of special importance because it coincides with the fiftieth anniversary of this pivotal event, as we recall with great pride the sacrifices of the Armed Forces over the past decades and their pioneering and continuing national role within the system of our comprehensive renaissance and their embodiment of the UAE’s values and principles in all its tasks.
We also celebrate this glorious national anniversary, in an atmosphere of national pride, after our armed forces wrote a wonderful national epic in the face of the Iranian terrorist attacks that targeted civilians and civilian sites, and dealt with them with courage, competence, and ability.
What our armed forces did in confronting this aggression, and the courage and loyalty shown by its people in performing their sacred national duty, and the great sacrifices they made, will be recorded with pride, pride and honor in the brightest pages of our history to confirm that the UAE is strong with its people and impervious to its unity.
Our advanced defense industries, which are based on extended strategic planning that looks to the future, have represented one of the most important sources of strength and effectiveness of our valiant armed forces in confronting Iranian terrorist attacks. Building our defense capabilities will remain a major strategic goal within the UAE’s comprehensive and sustainable development vision. So that our armed forces remain, as they have always been, a shield that protects, a sword that deters, and a fence that preserves our march towards the future.
Since its establishment, the UAE has sought prosperity and development for its people and the peoples of the world, but at the same time it has dealt decisively and forcefully with any threat to its sovereignty, security, and the safety of its people and those residing on its land. It is capable, God Almighty willing, of the efficiency of its army, the cohesion of its society, and the strength of its model, of responding to any attack, confronting any threat, and continuing to move forward.
May God have mercy on our righteous martyrs, and preserve the Emirates with glory, security and security.”
