“The master of the country… the country has returned”.. Al Hilal of Sudan is the league champion in 3 countries!

On Wednesday, Al Hilal of Sudan won the Rwanda Football League title for this season, repeating what it achieved in 2025 in the Mauritanian League, with its victory on Wednesday over Gasogie United 2-1 in the thirty-third round.
Al-Hilal, the team that won the most Sudanese league titles (31 times), was forced to play last season in the Mauritanian league and then moved this season to the Rwandan league as a result of the cessation of sports activity locally due to the war.
The activity of Sudanese clubs was limited to African participation in the African Champions League, for the capital’s teams, Al-Hilal and Al-Merreikh, who played their matches on the continent in more than one country.
It is true that Al-Hilal won the title three stages before the end, but this coronation is “honorary,” according to what was confirmed by the Rwandan League Association and the local federation of the game, which wrote on its website, “It is expected that the leading Rwandan club at the end of the season will obtain the title of champion of the BK Professional League, in addition to a financial prize worth 80 million Rwandan francs, with an automatic seat guaranteed in the African Champions League next season.”
Al-Hilal took the lead three matches before the end of the season, raising its score to 73 points from 31 matches, putting it 14 points ahead of the second-placed ABRF FC, which has three matches remaining, and 13 points ahead of the third-placed compatriot Al-Merreikh Club, which still has four matches to play, including an expected confrontation against its Sudanese rival.
The Rwandan Federation noted, “After the final whistle, the President of the Rwandan Football Federation, Fabrice Cheema, and the President of the Rwanda Premier League, Haji Yusuf Mudahiranwa, officially presented the cup and medals to Al Hilal Club in celebration of its remarkable campaign this season.”
Although it is honorary, it is very rare for a team to win the league title in three different countries.
Al Hilal benefited from these external participations to secure its presence in the official African competitions.
After an absence of more than three years, Al Hilal returned to Sudan on Thursday, to compete in the Elite League, which begins on Friday.
Al-Hilal wrote on its Facebook account, “We have returned to you,” in reference to Sudan and the local league, “The master of the country… the country has returned,” and “The awaited beloved has returned,” along with a video clip of its players getting off the bus, where dozens were waiting for them.
