المملكة: "health" Explains the dangers of heat stress and calls on pilgrims to take precautions

The Ministry of Health, as part of the “Healthy Hajj” campaign, called for to adhere to preventive guidelines to reduce the risks of Heat stress, stressing the importance of raising health awareness and quickly dealing with symptoms associated with direct exposure to high temperatures while performing rituals.

The Ministry explained that heat stress is a condition resulting from exposure to high heat, which leads to loss of fluids from the body, and may develop into heat stroke if not dealt with and treated immediately.

It showed that one of the most prominent symptoms of heat stress is: Headacheand dizziness, thirst, nausea, severe sweating, and rapid heartbeat, stressing the need to pay attention to these signs and seek medical help when feeling them.

The Ministry confirmed that prevention begins with drinking water regularly even when not feeling thirsty, using an umbrella, avoiding direct exposure to sunlight, wearing light-colored clothing, and reducing physical effort during times of high temperatures.

She added that if heat exhaustion is suspected, one should seek help immediately, drink cold water, and move to a shaded or cool place, calling on everyone to contact the unified call center 937 for health inquiries and request support when needed.

This awareness comes within the Ministry of Health’s ongoing efforts to enhance the safety and health of the pilgrims, and enable them to perform their rituals with ease and reassurance.
