Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi issues a decision to establish… "Sharjah Design Council"
Sharjah, May 20, WAM – Today, Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Sharjah Creative District, issued an administrative decision establishing the “Sharjah Design Council”, to be followed by the launch and establishment of “Sharjah Design Days”, to be a specialized platform that brings together designers, creatives and specialists from all over the world, to work on developing the design system and enhancing its presence regionally and globally.
This decision comes in line with the ambitious vision of the Sharjah Creative District in the creative industries and supporting it by attracting talents, brands and modern practices in the fields of design.
According to the decision, the Sharjah Design Council aims to develop the design system in the Emirate of Sharjah through specialized initiatives and programs that contribute to developing a sustainable creative environment, consolidating the emirate’s position as a leading regional center in the field of design, building and strengthening regional and international partnerships in the fields of design, and working to provide educational and training platforms that support emerging and professional designers and enhance innovation and creative production in this vital sector.
Within its powers, the Council is responsible for drawing and formulating strategies and policies related to the design sector, supervising the implementation of relevant programs and initiatives, in addition to organizing exhibitions, performances and specialized events, and launching economically and environmentally sustainable initiatives in the field of designing and manufacturing prototypes in a way that enhances Sharjah’s position as a leading regional center for creative exchange and cultural industries.
