Tension between Trump and Netanyahu over a possible agreement with Iran

Axios, citing informed sources, revealed that a tense call took place between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, against the backdrop of the latter’s anger over a possible agreement with Iran.
The sources reported that during the call, which took place on Tuesday, the two sides discussed efforts to reach an agreement with Tehran, noting that Netanyahu came out of it “very angry,” especially since he expresses widespread skepticism about the course of the negotiations, and calls for the resumption of military operations with the aim of further weakening Iranian capabilities and destroying its infrastructure.
On the other hand, US President Donald Trump expressed optimism about the possibility of reaching an agreement, while keeping the option of returning to military escalation alive.
According to an American source, Trump informed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of an initiative based on a “letter of intent” to be signed between Washington and Tehran to officially end the war and open a negotiating track for thirty days that includes the Iranian nuclear file and the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
Israeli sources reported that the two sides disagreed over the course of the crisis, while an American source described the severity of Netanyahu’s reaction after the call as remarkable. Reports also indicated that the Israeli ambassador in Washington conveyed Netanyahu’s concerns to American lawmakers, which the embassy spokesman denied, stressing that he would not comment on private conversations.
The sources concluded by noting that Netanyahu used to express his concerns at various stages of negotiations, even those that did not end in an agreement.
According to Axios, the negotiators are seeking to extract clearer commitments from Iran regarding its nuclear program, in exchange for providing more specific American details about the mechanisms for gradually releasing the frozen Iranian funds, at a time when the possibility of Tehran accepting the new draft remains unresolved.
