المملكة: With 1,469 volunteers and 40 languages.. "Umm Al-Qura" Serving 1447 pilgrims


I used Umm Al-Qura University has its human and research capabilities to serve the guests of God during the Hajj season of 1447 AH, through an integrated system that supports the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 aimed at facilitating the pilgrims’ faith journey.

The university has harnessed its capabilities to provide a diverse package of services that include scientific studies related to Hajj and Umrah, advisory services, and innovation, volunteering and translation programs in relevant sites.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Research Institute implemented Hajj and Umrah, affiliated with the university, included 16 research studies, with the participation of more than 20 specialized researchers in the environmental, health, engineering, and administrative fields, distributed across Mecca, Medina, and the Holy Sites.

Qualifying competencies working in serving pilgrims

The Institute of Research, Studies, and Consulting Services contributed to implementing 12 specialized studies in cooperation with 50 entities from the governmental, private, and non-profit sectors, to develop the work system.

The university provided 348 training courses exceeding one million and eighty thousand hours, with the aim of building capabilities and qualifying competencies working in serving pilgrims.

The efforts included providing guidance programs and translation services in more than 40 languages, in cooperation with the Institute for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers, to facilitate communication with the guests of God.

The university enhanced volunteer work by qualifying 1,469 volunteers who provided more than 45,000 hours. Voluntary, in partnership with the General Directorate of Civil Defense, the General Directorate of Border Guards, the Ministry of Health, and the General Authority for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques.

The Faculties of Medicine, Administration and Economics worked to provide specific programs to qualify students and train them in managing crowds and disasters, through courses covering administrative, health and societal aspects.

The university organized 30 scientific forums and symposia to discuss the development of services, while supporting the innovation path by adopting more than 600 qualitative ideas. It aims to improve the pilgrim experience and raise the efficiency of operations.

The university’s cultural interface received more than 13,500 pilgrim visitors, as part of programs aimed at enriching their experience and enhancing the cultural image of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Field initiatives

The university participated in this season with a human system of more than 2,000 academic, administrative and technical personnel, to implement field, organizational and awareness-raising initiatives.

On the logistical level, the university provided its headquarters to the parties participating in the Hajj as centers for accommodation and holding meetings and events, under the supervision of the University Security Administration, Facilities Management, and Institutional Communication Department.

The President of Umm Al-Qura University, Professor Dr. Muadi Al-Madhab, explained that what the university provides comes from its national and humanitarian mission in serving the guests of God, through the integration of field and research efforts.

Al-Mathahab stressed that the university is proud to have national competencies. Scientific expertise contributes to the development of services, and harnesses technology and innovation to keep pace with the aspirations of the wise leadership in providing the best services to the pilgrims of the Holy House of God.
