المملكة: 53% increase in the number of doctors… and 800,000 health practitioners in the Kingdom


The health system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia made a qualitative leap over the past year in the path of empowerment National competencies, recording a significant increase in the density of doctors by 53.3% to enhance absorptive capacity and quality of services.

Official indicators revealed the issuance of three crucial regulatory decisions to nationalize health professions, in a strategic step aimed at enhancing the participation of national cadres and supporting the sustainability of the growing health sector.

A remarkable expansion

Data showed that the number of health practitioners registered as members has exceeded The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties has reached the mark of 800,000 practitioners, which reflects a remarkable expansion in the specialized workforce base.

The training efforts resulted in the graduation of 5,691 male and female doctors from the Saudi Board programs and other approved training tracks, to pump new and qualified blood into the arteries of the treatment system.

Professional Paths

Statistics showed the availability of about 8,400 training seats in various fields. Health specializations, to accommodate medical cadres aspiring to develop their professional paths according to the highest standards.

With regard to raising comprehensive efficiency, more than 40,000 trainees benefited from the Health Academy’s programs dedicated to developing professional skills within the medical and administrative support fields.

Qualifying national cadres

In the financial and logistical aspect, 131 national cadre specialists were qualified in the fields of health cost accounting and actuarial sciences, to control the efficiency of resource management.

These precise specialized tracks were implemented through training programs led by National Health Insurance Center, in joint cooperation with the health sector, to ensure sustainable financial planning for the system.
