Statistical data showed that record operational rates were recorded by transporting 1.8 million pilgrims during the Hajj season 1446 AH via the Holy Mashaer train. The Haramain Express Train recorded 99.5% punctuality during the month of Ramadan, transporting 1.2 million passengers, an annual increase of 12%, with a daily average of more than 48,000 passengers.
Shipping volume growth
On the logistical level, the numbers showed a growth in freight volumes of more than 3%, with 30 million tons of goods transported.This transformation contributed to supporting supply chains, coinciding with the conclusion of deals worth more than six billion dollars during the Saudi International Railway Conference.
Environmentally, The reportAttention is paid to saving 139.4 million liters of fuel annually and removing more than two million vehicles from the roads. The Saudi Railways strengthened its reliance on clean energy by operating more than 50% of its signaling and communications systems through solar energy, by installing 96 solar panels in 62 towers, which reduced emissions in remote locations by 99.9%.
The system confirmed its commitment to the principles of the circular economy by recycling 10,216 tons of various industrial waste and returning them to local value chains. This was accompanied by raising the percentage of local content to 55% instead of 36.8% recorded in 2021, with 95% of spending directed towards local suppliers, which saved more than $10 million and integrated 33 small and medium enterprises.
Localization rate
Technically, statistics revealed the launch of the first artificial intelligence model in the Middle East and North Africa region to predict accidents with an accuracy of 75%, to increase reliability and secure assets. These practices culminated in Saudi Railways obtaining a four-star rating from the European Foundation for Quality Management as the first regional transport entity to achieve this rating, in addition to receiving the King Abdulaziz Award for Quality.
The future strategy for the year 2035 AD goes towards expanding the operational network and raising the capacity of passengers and freight. These efforts aim to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060 AD and raise the efficiency of sustainable transport, to consolidate the Kingdom’s position as a global center for transport and logistics services.
