The UAE confirms its readiness to host the United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice 2026

The Minister of Justice, Abdullah Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, confirmed the readiness of the United Arab Emirates to host the work of the “Fifteenth United Nations Conference on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice” in the capital, Abu Dhabi, next September, in order to ensure the achievement of practical outcomes and a sustainable legacy that contributes to the development of the fields of justice and crime prevention internationally.

During a speech he delivered during the session of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, the Minister of Justice called on member states to continue working to adopt the “Abu Dhabi Declaration” at the opening of the conference, to actively participate in the “Pledge for Justice” initiative, and to announce concrete commitments that enhance the efficiency of the international criminal system.
He reviewed the size of the international participation expected in the conference, which will witness more than 250 side meetings and 35 specialized exhibitions, reflecting the pivotal role of the event as an international platform for promoting dialogue, exchanging experiences, and consolidating international partnerships in the fields of crime prevention and criminal justice.

The Minister of Justice explained that this forum represents the largest global platform specialized in justice issues, and provides a strategic opportunity to deepen international cooperation in facing contemporary and emerging challenges. Especially in crimes affecting the environment, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence, he noted that it will include a series of high-level thematic discussions on pressing global issues, including drug trafficking, the treatment and rehabilitation of perpetrators, access to justice, combating money laundering, and violence against children.

He stressed that the UAE adopts a comprehensive, participatory approach in organizing this event, including governments, the private sector, civil society, and youth. In this context, he appreciated the Generation Justice initiative and the youth forum that preceded the conference, and stressed the UAE’s aspiration and welcome to receive world delegations in Abu Dhabi during September.
