An agreement has been formed with Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz and lift the blockade on the ports

A senior US administration official revealed, on Sunday, the crystallization of a framework agreement with Iran that ends months of conflict, and stipulates that Tehran will reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz to shipping traffic without imposing transit fees, in exchange for the United States lifting its blockade of Iranian ports.

Fox News quoted the official as saying in a press briefing: “We believe we have reached an agreement. It is a wonderful and very strong agreement.” He explained that Tehran’s fulfillment of the main American demand to open the waterway “without fees” would directly coincide with the end of the American naval blockade on its ports.

The official pointed out that agreement on these simultaneous steps will pave the way for moving to a later stage, focusing primarily on operations to clear the waterway of mines to ensure the security and safety of navigation.

These statements come as President Donald Trump and officials in his administration express their confidence in the near completion of the final agreement, despite Iranian officials continuing to provide differing public accounts about the actual status of the talks and the conditions on the negotiating table.
